Erasmus+

Since 2014, Erasmus+ has been supporting in-person exchanges, digital interactions, and joint projects among schools, preschools, and daycare centers across Europe. As a result, thousands of teachers and students from Germany have rediscovered and gotten to know Europe in a new way.

As part of the Erasmus+ consortium organized by the Ministry of Education and Culture, the European School Saarland has been receiving financial support from EU funds for international exchanges since the 2025–2026 school year. These exchanges, which take the form of teacher or student mobility programs, fulfill at least one of the consortium’s four objectives:

  • Europe on a Small Scale—The Greater Region as a Living Space: We want to empower our schools to become active contributors to the Greater Region through targeted cross-border initiatives.
  • Erasmus+ as an Opportunity for EVERYONE: Expanding inclusive international student exchanges to boost motivation to learn, particularly among groups with limited access to mobility programs or those that are underrepresented.
  • The Multilingual Classroom: We aim to promote and foster multilingualism through sustainable mobility programs and partnerships, thereby preparing our school system for the future of Europe in a sustainable way.
  • Education Goes Europe – The Erasmus+ Path to Innovative Teaching: How targeted teacher mobility programs can make a meaningful contribution, particularly to the development of digital teaching.

As a school community, we are grateful for the opportunity to experience Europe firsthand!
